Project: Energy Modeling for 179D deduction

Description: Buildings wanting to take advantage of the IRS 179D tax deduction for new construction or renovations to existing structures energy efficient systems must have a 3rd party verification of their buildings energy savings.  As required by the IRS a complete energy modeling simulation must be completed in order to verify the energy savings that will determine the amount of tax deduction that the building owner is eligble for.

LEED energy modeling

Project: Energy Modeling for LEED submittals

Description:Buildings attempting to get LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design) certification must have a complete energy model of their building done in energy modeling software.  This model is to calculate the projected energy savings for the building as compared to the baseline model as defined by ASHRAE standard 90.1.  Additionally our team can work directly with the mechanical engineering design firm for your project and make design recommendations with projected energy savings for different HVAC systems that could be utilized.

Pipe Stress Analysis

Project: Piping Thermal & Seismic Design

Description: Perform seismic building piping stress analysis per ASME B31.9 and the international building code on the heating hot water, chilled cooling water, steam, generator fuel oil and radiator water, cooling water to/from cooling tower, condensate, vent and exhaust systems.

Construction drawings power plant Project: Huntington Canyon Coal Power Plants

Description: Produce construction drawings for steam inerting systems at the Midwest Generation and Huntington Canyon coal power plants. Responsible for pipe routing from the top of boiler to the feeder floor elevation, valve station layouts, hanger design and air duct penetration details.

piping stress analysis Project: Oakland Hospital

Description: Design and stress analysis of cryogenic vent piping for MRI machines at Oakland Hospital and adjacent Hospital Service Building. During venting the system will reach temperatures of -450° F and requires the system to be analyzed for thermal contraction in addition to wind, seismic and unbalanced pressure loads.

Power plant pipe rack Project: Natural Gas Power Plant Jackson, Miss

Description: Evaluate the condition of the Hinds combined cycle natural gas plant in Jackson, Mississippi. The clay soil that the plant was situated on has properties that cause it to swell when saturated. The soil swell was causing parts of the plant to lift as much as four inches causing concern for safe operation of the plant. A full plant walk down was conducted to determine if soil condition was causing any detrimental conditions. Calculations were made to determine if the increased loading on the turbine as a result of the swell would result in operating outside the allowable stress limits of the turbine. Additional drains were recommended to prevent water slugs from slamming into the turbine causing damage.

Boiler piping

Project: South Coast Power Authority- Ponce, Puerto Rico

Description: Perform site survey work using a total station to accurately measure main steam line pipe routing and slope. Measurements were used in a larger study performed at the plant to determine solutions to their main steam support issues. This study, analysis and design solution allowed the plant to remain operation and improve the overall safety at the plant.

 leed energy modeling

Project: Hearing Help Express

Description: Produce design drawings for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for an office build out in an existing warehouse facility. Required to incorporate LEED design choices in order to full fill the certification requirements. Performed energy analysis for the project in accordance to LEED standards and helped consult the project on energy performance.

Spring Hanger Project: Shoiba Power Plant

Description: Perform site assessment at the Saudi Arabia Shoiba Plant to resolve issues associate with the boiler circulation pumps. Analysis and design solution was the deliverables to the client.

Wire energy absorption restraint

Project: Fisher Valve

Description: Design of Wire Energy Absorbing Rope (WEAR™), a shock absorption system for Fisher’s test valve facility in Marshalltown, Iowa.
